So much psychic pain goin round
Lots of headlines to keep you down
Try not to frown.
Dark and brooding poetry
In a disturbed state of mind
Sounds profound
To the profoundly maligned
Only maligned in their own mind
But it starts to radiate outwards
So the profoundly disturbed
Only feels happy when the whole world frowns
But pessimism is only a state of mind
A form of retardation
Which can be fixed.
Harmony Korine’s The Beach Bum (2019) helped me fix my flawed state of mind. It’s fried to the point of revelation. Hedonistic and excessive to express a point as well as deeply loving. Adhering to two bits of wisdom I always try to keep in mind - “Be in the world and not of it” and “Think lightly of yourself and deeply of the world.” I rewatch The Beach Bum every year and think about it often.
When you’re driving behind a Cadillac it’s either a white geezer or a young black lady smoking a fat blunt. People still try to jam racism down your throat. All I see is unity.
I’ve noticed that people feel they deserve love. I suppose that’s true, but it’s not something you can buy in a store and put on a shelf. It’s about trial and error. It’s a symbiosis like a Plover bird that cleans a Crocodiles teeth. But it’s not simply an exchange of mutual benefit - if that’s your state of mind about love you’re doomed to a life of confusion and zero love.
I heard about Chimpanzees performing rituals. They place rocks and sticks near trees they deem important. That fact can seem a bit creepy, but who says homo sapiens are they only species that deserves spirituality.
Don’t drink and drive electric bikes. Blood stain on sidewalk.
