Miracles for Interesting Times
There is a Chinese curse that says may you live in interesting times.
That stuff with Kanye isn’t any more exciting to me than a funny episode of television but I mention it because it is bizarre. Maybe I'm too zapped off the 5G and information pleasure-torture cycle. All I can say is I hope people aren’t gullible enough to commit hate crimes because Yeezy is being funny.
I don’t think Ye is mentally ill beyond being a creative genius. Being a weird outsider is part of the appeal and makes better art. Ye could probably direct a movie or write a novel. He proves that you can do what ever you feel like doing as long as you commit. Ye seems to have a toxic love affair with creativity. I know people like that who are just as talented and just as psycho. His life informs his art, he talked about watching porn as if it was like cheating on Kim, but his real love affair is causing chaos in his personal life so he can go on creative arcs, like his Info Wars interview and the song he dropped right after. Enjoy it or be scandalized. If you’re a rap head and know that black artists have been fucked over for a long time (Sopranos had an episode even) then you see why the paranoia is justified. Speaking of paranoia, he exposed his MK Ultra handler. May you live in interesting times…
So life is sublime and confusing and fried and cringe and beautiful sometimes, but is there a deeper purpose? Should we sit back and smoke weapons-grade marijuana and laugh at everything? You can, but you will miss out on stuff that will enrich your life. Pleasure seekers, go with the flow-ers who live on that beatnik coast-to-coast, gig-to-gig, party-to-party thing are missing out by trying to not miss out. Kerouac was on that tip back when, but he was also meditating and praying in isolation. He had a tremendous amount of free time. When you stop seeking pleasure, then pleasure finds you. When you tune out of all entertainment your brain starts to entertain itself. That is the great lapse between the art of the past and the art now. Education was more rigorous and people had to entertain themselves so they created great things.
We forget that we're being spied on and that sharing pure ego online isn't normal. Look how fried normies get online, this shit is meant for nerds and artists. When you give a hot chick with a banging body and no sense of self an Instagram account you're going to get a vapid result, the same goes for men. And this continues the further you go down the social ladder. With social media people don't act much differently, we all have one thing in common - an ego that craves validation. Having an account doesn't make you a narcissist, but it makes it easier. Doing cocaine once might not get you addicted, but repeated use will.
Nowadays I'm laissez-faire with the matrix. I can turn my attention on and off, like with the Kanye stuff. I'm feeling a positive wind coming through my life and the distractions and gossip of the world just don't interest me very much. I guess I belielve people should be a bit more ascetic in modern life and less engaged in benal shit, that way you can see and enjoy things for what they are - interesting and sublime.
